On January 8-10, 2019, the 4th Workshop on "Newly Occurred Infectious Diseases, Laboratory Safety and Global Health Security Challenges" was held at the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute. The workshop was hosted by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Sciences, and was undertaken by the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the State Key Laboratory of Veterinary Biotechnology.
Prof. Zhang Weiwen, and associate professor Xue Yang of the CBRS at Tianjin University, were invited to attend the workshop. Prof. Zhang gave a talk entitled "Cutting Edging New Biotechnology: Strategies and Tools for Engineering". Subsequently, Prof. Xue also gave a talk on “Biosafety and Bioethis Considerations in Dual-Use Risks Management – China’s Efforts and Future Works”.
