The workshop entitled “Science and Technology Development and Governance on Bioethics” was held in Beijing, China on August 16, 2019. The workshop was organized by the Science and Technology Development and Governance Research Center of Tsinghua University. Nearly 30 experts and scholars of biotechnology, bioethics, science and technology policy attended the workshop. The aim of the workshop is to discuss governance related to the frontier life science and technology, and to seek delicate balance between the fast progress of life sciences and potential ethical risks.
Prof. Zhang Weiwen, Director of CBRS at Tianjin University, gave a keynote speech on "Cutting-edge biotechnology: biosafety problems and potential solutions".
