The workshop on “the Research of ASF and Vaccine Development” was hosted by the Center for Biosafety Research and Strategy at Tianjin University in the morning of March 26, 2019. Mr. Wu Xiaodong, Director of the China Center for Animal Health and Epidemiology, Mr. Yao Jiancong, Director of PIC Asia Pacific Health and Safety, and Mr. Ghenadie Popa, Director of Supply Chain, PIC Asia Pacific, were invited to attend the workshop. Yuan Yingjin, vice president of TJU, Professor Zhang Weiwen, Director of CBRS, Professor Huang Jinhai from the School of Life Sciences, Associate Professor Wu Yi from the School of Chemical Engineering, Associate Professor Xue Yang from the School of Law, Dr. Sun Tao, Dr. Jiao Pengfei and Dr. Song Xinyu from the CBRS attended the workshop, and the workshop was presided over by Professor Zhang Weiwen.
Vice President Yuan Yingjin firstly delivered a speech. He expressed his welcome and sincere gratitude for the experts’ coming. He also gave a brief introduction on the harm of African swine fever and the importance of conducting research on the use of synthetic materials technology. Subsequently, the participating experts gave wonderful keynotes on the market, technology and policy in combination with the theme of the workshop, and carried out a heated discussion on the developing status of the African swine fever epidemic, the status of virus research and development, related vaccine research and development prospects. Finally, Director Zhang Weiwen made a summary of the workshop. He emphasized the necessity of the workshop and the importance of conducting cooperative research in the future.
