An article, “Potential biological risks emerge from the development of new type of dual-use biotechnologies and possible countermeasures against these threats”, co-authored by Dr. Yang Xue and Prof. Youhai Sun in CBRS was published on issue 21 of Bulletin of University Think Tank in 2017.
Based on review and analysis of newly developed dual-use biotechnologies, this article discussed the potential biological risks to national safety and security. To improve our biosafety regulatory system, several countermeasures in aspects of strategic planning, regulatory system, legal construction, scientific research capabilities, and social awareness were also proposed.
